Resumen:
So far, Argentina records 19 species in seven genera have been found. This group of heteropterans was long considered a subfamily of the family Coreidae, but for the past half century it has generally been accorded family status. There has been considerable disagreement as to the infrafamilial classification of the Alydidae. Bergroth (1918), Schaefer (1965), and Li and Zheng (1993) considered that this family is composed of two subfamilies (Alydinae and Micrelytrinae); on the other hand Schaefer (1972,1980a, 1980b), Linnavouri (1987), and Schuh and Slater (1995) supported three (Alydinae, Leptocorisinae, and Micrelytrinae). Schaefer (1999) finally analyzed the familial classification, and reported two subfamilies, Alydinae(with two tribes, one of them Old World), and Micrelytrinae, and two tribes within the latter, the Micrelytrini and the Leptocorisini. Schuh and Slater (1995, 272; but Schaefer [1999]) presented a key to the three subfamilies. Schaefer (2004, 283) offered a key to the genera of New World Alydidae
