Resumen:
Argentinian records of five species in four genera are listed bellow. The authors who studied this family, Emsley (1969) and ?tys (1970, 1995f), esentially agreed on its limitsexcept that the former author considered it to be divisible into three subfamilies, while the later authors decided to use but two subfamilies. Emsley included a list of the world?s species. Both authors placed all genera known from Argentina as members of the subfamily Schizopterinae, and the subfamily Hypselomotaninae was included by Carpintero and Dellapé (2009). An earlier review emphasizing the American genera and species was offered by McAtee and Malloch (1925).Wygodzinsky (1951) thought that additional representatives will be found not only in the northwestern provinces, but specially in the subtropical forest of the territory of the Republic wherever prevails sufficienthumidity to meet the minimum requirements for these insects.
