Resumen:
The following list enumerates 13 species in six genera for Argentina. More should be expected. The family was catalogued by Parshley (1929) in the traditional status as the subfamily Euryophthalminae in the Pyrrhocoridae. China (1954, 188?189) explained why Largidae is the proper name for this group. A particularly important paper dealing, in part, with the South American forms, was published by Schmidt (1931). There have been considerable differences of opinion as to the intrafamilial status of this family. But see: subfamilies Larginae (New World) and Physopeltinae (Old World); with three tribes in Larginae: Largini, Largulini, and Arhaphini (see Stehlik and Kment, 2011). Two tribes of Larginae are in Argentina.
