Resumen:
A comparative study of mandibles, maxillae and
labium of ten genera of Naupactini related to Cyrtomon Schoenherr vas carried out using the scanning electron
microscope (SEM). The objectives were to determine the taxonomic value of
mouthparts and to expand the descriptions of the genera to include the
characters found. The labium provides the largest number of characters, the
most important of which are the shape, sculpture, and number of setae on the
external surface of the prementum. The most valuable characters of the maxillae
are the shape and position of the mala, the shape of the lacinial teeth, and
the shape of the articles of the palpus, specially the third article. The
mandibles do not provide useful characters, except for the length and width of
the pharyngeal process.
