Resumen:
In this work nanocomposites based on resol resin and montmorillonite were study. Rheological measurements showed a Thixotropic and pseudoplastic behaviour of the nanocomposite suspensions probably due to the break down and alignement of the clay particles. X-Ray diffraction patterns provided a strong evidence that the nanocomposite have been exfoliated. TGA measurements of the cured samples indicated that the thermal resistance of the resol was improved by the addition of the clay., The modulus and the hardness determined in the cured specimens by m,eans of a nanoindenter increased as the deep of the sample decreased. This result indicated that there is a higher concentration of clay near the surface of the specimen, improving their wear resistance.
