Resumen:
The advertisement call plays a fundamental role for recognizing species within theOreobates genus. Despite the relevance of this taxonomic character, more than a half of these direct-developing frog species lack of call description. We describe Oreobates berdemenos Pereyra et al., 2014 advertisement call of its type locality in Jujuy province, Argentina. We confirm the taxonomic identity of voucher specimens as O. berdemenos through molecular and morphological analyses. The advertisement call of Oreobates berdemenos is a melodious trill composed of 10 to 16 notes with modulated amplitude and frequency. We compared the advertisement call of O. berdemenos with two populations from Argentina and Bolivia assigned to O. discoidalis. We suggest that the call from Argentina belongs to O. berdemenos and the taxonomic identity of the Bolivian population should be reviewed. In addition, we describe the aggressive vocalizations repertoire of O. berdemenos and compare territorial and encounter calls with the vocal repertoire previously assigned to O. discoidalis. With thepresent work, two of the three Oreobates species of Argentina had a formal description of the advertisement calls and vocal repertoires.
