Resumen:
ABSTRACT The feeding biology of Pterodoras granulosus (armado) was studied in an extense area compricing two environments of diferent chaaracteristics; a tipical lotic system, the Lower Paraná River, and a transition towards an estuarian system in the Río de la Plata right margin. The relative importance of the different feeding items observed in the stomach content of Pterodoras granulosus represented the relative abundance of them in the environment. Therefore P granulosus appeared as an strongly euriphagic and hardly sective organism consuming vegetation and moluscs, being itss diet was dominated by vegetation in the Lower Paraná River and moluscs in the Rio de la Plata right margin. The mussel Limnoperna fortunei showed a high percent of ocurrence in all sampling sites. The eventual importance of P. granulosus on C. limnoperna density is discussed.
