Resumen:
Thehydrogen which feed PEM fuel cells should contain less than 10 ppm of CO inorder to not deteriorate the anode of the cell. One of the main ways to obtainhydrogen is by means of hydrocarbons or alcohols reforming, followed by thewater gas shift reaction. After these steps, rich-hydrogen stream containsaround 1% CO, so a further CO elimination stage is needed. In this sense, theCO Preferential Oxidation (COPrOx) is a promising alternative to decrease COconcentration.Taking intoaccount the excellent properties of noble metal for the CO oxidation reactionsas well as the important role of a transition metal as a second metal, a seriesof PtCu/Al2O3 monoliths with low Pt loading have been prepared over cordieritesubstrate. Then, they were evaluated in the COPrOx reaction and characterizedby means of different techniques.
