Resumen:
The estimation of the air quality and greenhouse emissions at urban centres are based on detailed source inventories, regular pollution and meteorological monitoring and an adequate modelling capability. The elaboration of these inventories is normally done either in a top-down or bottom-up approach, depending on the available information and the desired spatial and temporal resolution. In this paper we first present the inventories calculated under both methods, for the city of Mendoza, Argentina. The estimated emission patterns are organized in a geographical information system and then used to compute the air pollutant concentration. The air quality values are calculated using two dispersion algorithms: ISC3P and CALPUF. Finally the results are compared with data from monitoring stations.
