Resumen:
This work proposed the immunological and molecular study of antigenic variation that may exist between genotypes of Bovine Parainfluenza Virus type 3 (BPIV3). The results obtained in the cross IH assay demonstrated that sera against genotype A can inhibit both genotype heterologous C and homologous virus activity but the greater differences were observed when the sera against genotype B was assayed with genotype A virus. Phylogenetic analysis of the both buffaloes (genotyoe B) and cattle isolates (genotypes A and C) based on a fragment of the HN gene showed two well-defined clusters supported by a high bootstrap (73). In this study we report that the genotype B clustered with the genotype C and separated of the genotype A. The differences observed in the recognition of hyperimmune serum against genotype A when was assayed with the bubaline isolate of genotype B by Inhibition Haemagutination Assay (IHA) correlate with the observed differences in phylogenetic trees.
