Resumen:
The Atlantic Forest or Selva Paranaense, represents the most biodiverse regions of Argentina, currently covering an area of 1,183,791 hectares. However, selective logging of native timberspecies, the advance of the agricultural frontier and the overexploitation of natural resourceshave led to the degradation of the remaining forest, with the consequent loss of geneticvariability. Conservation and productive use of the seeds are particularly important to Law No.4,464 / 2008 of Misiones germplasm bank, which aims to preserve and broaden the genetic baseof native and exotic plants. This paper describes the activities and results generated by theSILVA 17 Project, which proceeded to the selection, marking and registration of seed trees, bythe method of the parent tree, establishing networks of trees and seed areas in the province ofMisiones.
