Resumen:
The screening of tolerant strains to pollutants is a crucial step in mycoremediation. It is expected that selected fungal strains are capable of surviving, degrading, and detoxifying the pollutant. In this sense, the screening procedure has to be simple, rapid, economic, and principally efficient to obtain strains with bioremediation application. White-rot fungi have remarkable capabilities of biodegradation and detoxification in which some ligninolytic enzymes are implied. In this chapter, we propose a screening technique using predictive mycology to recognize fungal strains with potential tolerance to organic pollutants. The predictive mycological tool described here is based on a growth model of fungi secreting ligninolytic enzymes.
