FernándezMouján conceived Espejo para cuando mepruebe el smoking/Mirror for When I Try on My Dinner Jacket as the recordingof a process of artistic creation. Even though the culmination of this processis an exhibit in an art museum, the film focuses instead on the story of artistRicardo Longhini and the detailed preparation of his work, which is also an actof political intervention. With artifacts from the protestsagainst therepression that took place on 19 and 20 December 2001, his installations depictnationalsymbols, such as an Argentine flag. Using the shells of bullets shot by policeand stones flung by the demonstrators, Longhini formulates his vision of thepopular rebellion of those days. Meanwhile, Fernández Mouján appropriates thatprocess and delivers a film that continues to problematize the fruitfulrelationship between art and politics.
