La noche eterna is a documentary thatrecords the state of the Río Turbio coal mines (province of Santa Cruz),exploited until the 1980s by the public Argentine company Yacimientos Carboníferos Fiscales (YCF). The mines were privatized justbefore the film was made. The policies of personnel reduction and exploitationare presented exclusively through the testimonials of the workers and througharchival material about large strikes, recorded on video by the workersthemselves.The media, for the most part, did not cover them.
