Resumen:
The optimal design and upgrade of sensor networks (SN) have been receiving an increase in attention in the last past years. This problem is characterized by a highly combinatorial nature and involves a large number of features and constraints to be simultaneously considered. This work presents an effective two-step approach to the design of reliable measurement systems with minimum cost and maximum accuracy. The first step is focused on the reliability of the measurement system whereas the second one gradually improves the accuracy with minimum additional cost. Both problems are efficiently solved through a genetic algorithm-based approach implemented in the Matlab interface. The applicability of the methodology is illustrated through the resolution of a benchmark case study taken from literature.
