Resumen:
The addition of Ga(III) cations to CeO2 improves the reducibility of ceria which is proved by X-raydiffraction, infrared spectroscopy and oxygen storage capacity measurements. A mechanisminvolving the dissociation of H2 on Ga(III) surface sites, leading to the formation of Ga-H specieswhich further react with O bonded to gallium and cerium cations (Ga-O-Ce) is proposed.
