The development of an aptasensor with an innovative and automated readout is reported. The sensing mecha-nism takes advantage of the strong correlation observed between the alteration of the coffee ring effect and the analyte concentration. The assay was implemented on purpose-built cards. A smartphone-coupled Python script was programmed for automated image processing, data management and communication.
