Photonic efficiency of the photocatalytic inactivation of bioaerosols in a fixed-bed reactor

Thephotocatalytic inactivation of Bacillus subtilis spores in air was studiedemploying an annular, fixed-bed reactor filled with TiO2-coated glass rings andirradiated with UV lamps. Experiments were carried out under differentirradiation conditions. Inactivation was evaluated along the treatment byanalyzing the viability of spores attached to the catalytic rings (inside thereactor) and in the air outlet. Photonic efficiency parameters, which relatethe inactivation of spores with the incident radiation, were calculated.
