This work is intended to present the development ofa research particularly oriented towards the highestpreponderance assets, such as distribution transformers.Research started from the evolution and development of assetmanagement in electrical companies, especially in electric energydistribution companies, and the implication that assetmanagement may have in our Nation and in Latin America, as anessential base to provide satisfaction to the customers, fromimprovements in the company´s performance. This work alsoaims to analyze various options for asset management atdifferent time horizons, with direct implications in thedevelopment of the company´s functions. Conclusions related tothe main items that influence asset management utilities arepresented last.
