Resumen:
The Copahue volcano (37º45'S-71º10.2'O) is an active stratovolcano with basaltic andesitic composition. In the active crater, there is usually an acidic lagoon which together with a set of springs constitutes the surface expression of a hydrothermal system. On 12-22-2012 a new eruption left the crater without a gap and after recovering a few times remained without water. Subsequently "grew up" a pyroclastic cone in it. In the present work the main characteristics of the cone are described, based on field observations and petrological characteristics of the products emitted, as well as interpreting the present eruptive mechanisms. Keywords: eruptive style, ash cone, hydromagmatism, scoria cone
