In recent years, archaeological research has been restarted in the middle course of the Chico River, Pali Aike volcanic field, Province of Santa Cruz, Argentina. This paper presents the preliminary results obtained from the distributional study of rock art motifs, lithic artifacts and bone remains recently surveyed in Estancia Markatch Aike. This place was revisited, complementing previous records, with the aim of analyzing formal and technical characteristics of rock paintings and to do systematic surveys of surface through transects and square sampling units. Late Holocene hunter-gatherers land use in the middle basin of the Chico River is discussed according to data provided by the different lines of evidence.
