Resumen:
In this chapter, we present a snapshot of the current developments in the field of electrospun scaffolds for skin tissue engineering applications and wound dressings. The incorporation of a wide variety of antibiotics, antimicrobial agents, metallic or inorganic nanoparticles, herbal drugs, growth factors and other new and promising therapeutic agents is overviewed. Lastly, a perspective on the trends and challenges is given to draw a roadmap for further advances and to open up new routes in this constantly evolving research field.
