Resumen:
An extense benthic survey on macrobenthos (1 mm) were carried out in shallow bottoms of the SW Atlantic shore, in order to know the food availability for fishes, and to assess the degree of contamination at the Blanca Bay. Faunistically, the shallow shelf associations in fine and very fine sand are similar all along the costal area, with dominance of Anphipods, and the polychaetes Prionospio sp, Paraprionospio pinnata and Maldanids and Tanaidaceans (mainly Kalliapseudes schubartti). At Blanca Bay, dominance correspond to the polychaetes Paraonidae, anfipods, Nicolea chilensis, Thelepus plagiostoma, Axiothella cf. constricta and Laeonereis acuta. The Blanca Bay, a ‘hot spot’ in relation to pollution, appeared to has no significative changes in relation to the 1982-1983 data, in spite of the dominance of Paraonidae, an indicator of organic enrichement.
