Dispersion of Crystals of a Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane (POSS) in an Epoxy Matrix

A polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) containing one epoxy group and seven phenyl groups was incorporated into an epoxy matrix following a two-step process. In the resulting material, POSS was present both as a dispersed crystalline phase and as pendant units of the network. Morphological and thermal characterization of the product was performed.
