The ALD technique was used to obtain powder catalysts of cobalt oxides on zirconia. Formulations with 1, 2 and 4 deposition cycles were synthesized from an organometallic precursor. The morphology and composition were studied by different characterization techniques: SEM, XPS, FRX and LRS.Solids were obtained with a maximum Co loading of <2 %p with adequate distribution, without the presence of agglomerations and with cobalt oxide as the main phase. The deposition process did not substantially modify the morphology of zirconia. The catalysts were tested for the CO oxidation reaction and all were found to be more active than their respective support. In turn, the best catalytic performance was obtained as the number of ALD cycles increased, i.e. the loading of the active oxide.
