Resumen:
􀀐􀀐The reduction of phenol and/or formaldehydeconsumption during phenolic resin synthesisis of great technological and scientific interestbecause of its economic and environmental implications. In this work, the addition of sodium lignosulfonateas partial replacement of phenol in the phenolicresol base resins used for decorative laminatesproduction is experimentally studied. The work involves:i) the characterization and reactivation oflignosulfonate, ii) the industrial synthesis of traditionaland modified resols by replacement of10%w/w of phenol, iii) the industrial impregnationof Kraft-type papers with the produced resins, iv)the production of laminates at laboratory and industrialscale, and, v) the measurement of their finalproperties. Tensile, bending and impact strengthwere evaluated. Modified laminates exhibited mechanicalproperties statistically comparable withthose of traditional laminates.Industrial tests were carried
