Resumen:
The entire world is experiencing impacts of climate change and increasing variability. Arid regions are particularly vulnerable to water shortages and droughts. Vulnerability to climate change impacts is a process formed in the context of social, political and economic dynamics: i.e. globalization, neo-liberalism, unequal access to economic capital and development models. This paper identifies key nodes of vulnerability operating within and across agricultural contexts of Mendoza. The paper explores the structural determinants of these vulnerability nodes, their effects and consequences, adaptive strategies and capacities (current and potential). Additionally, as reducing vulnerability entails not only an adaptation process to changing conditions but a transformation of them, the paper also assess possible courses of action and provides recommendations for political decision-making.
