The activativatory efect of thymol was also observed even in the presence of GABA at concentrations of maximal activity and it was blocked by Bibiculline (2). Ø   We also observed that other monoterpenes like Thymol, Camphor, Menthol, Geraniol and Cineol were able to interact with micelles of Triton X-100 changing the polarity at the depth inner regions in the micellar structure and generating a more negative environment at the interface (3).The experiments presented here were orientated to understand the interaction of monoterpenes with membranes. This studies could provide experimental support to the hypothesis that terpenes may change the lipidic enviroment of the GABAA receptor because they contribute to the understanding of the probable relationship between supramolecular organization and the receptor activity.
