Resumen:
We studied the diversity, relative importance, and efficiency of the eggs parasitoids of the corn leafhopper, Dalbulus maidis (DeLong & Wolcott), and also the density fluctuations of this vector in two planting dates (December and February) in Lules Department, Tucumán, Argentina. Eight species of eggs parasitoids belonging to three Hymenoptera families (Mymaridae, Trichogrammatidae and Eulophidae) were identified. The overall averages of egg parasitism recorded in the field were 51.2 and 67.5%. The most important egg parasitoids by frequency and abundance were Anagrus spp. (Mymaridae) with attack rates of 71 and 76.8% in the first and second planting dates, followed by Paracentrobia sp. (Trichogrammatidae) with 22.6 and 15%, respectively. These results suggest that the egg parasitoids play an important role in the natural control of D. maidis and encourage studies to establish conservation actions by the enhancement of the populations of these biocontrol agents.
