Resumen:
Versión inglesa del libro Los trabajos de la memoria. This book presents the conceptual framework for the study of memories of political repression and political violence. Anchored in the experience of the countries of the Southern Cone of South America, the book deals with the most significant dimensions of social memory. It presents the convergence of three main dimensions: institutional aspects, the symbolic level and subjective meanings. The chapters of the book present the place of memory in the contemporary world, the political struggles for memory, the link between memory and history, the location of trauma and testimony, the gender dimensions of memory, and issues of transmission and legacies.
