Resumen:
Aims: Hofbauer cells (HB) are the only foetal immune cell population within the stroma ofhealthy placenta. However, the functional properties of these cells are poorly described.HB are transcriptional and chromosomically similar to yolk sac macrophages. Here westudied the effect of sexual dimorphism in the immunometabolism of human placental HBat term.Methodology: HB cells were obtained from placental tissue by enzymatic digestion fromhealthy pregnant women at term along with autologous PBMCs. HB were culturedovernight and the phenotypic profile, efferocytosis, glucose uptake and lipid dropletsaccumulation were evaluated by flow cytometry and ELISA. We have started withbioinformatic analysis in public database to understand the differential imprinting ofplacentas with male or female newborns. Results: HB from female placenta (fHB) present higher production of antiinflammatorymarkers CD163, CD206 and CD39 accompanied by lesser secretion of IL-1B than HBfrom male placentas (mHB) (*P
