Universal scaling rules for ionization of molecules by impact of ions

Theoretical and experimental data sets for the single ionization of complex molecules of biologicalinterest are submitted to a two-fold scaling rule. The rule depends on the projectile charge and the number ofactive electrons of the molecular target. Consequently, the cross sections become independent of the collisionalsystem, and a large number of data sets lay into a single curve.
