Resumen:
The objective of this paper is to analyse load-depth curves obtained from spherical indentation tests on hydrostatic pressure dependent plastic solids, in order to determine mechanical properties such as elastic modulus, hardness, yield point and pressure sensitivity factor. To this end, numerical simulations of indentation tests on elastic¨Cperfectly plastic materials that obey a Drucker Prager yield criterion were carried out making use of the finite element computational program Abaqus 6.3. It was found that the Oliver-Pharr model can be applied to calculate E of pressure dependant elastoplastic materials when tested with a spherical indenter with an accuracy of more than a 10 % at any depth. Different combinations of  syc and pressure sensitive factor can yield to the same load-displacement. In the contact stress-contact strain curves, deviation from elastic behaviour begins when H/sy ¡Ö 1.6.
