Resumen:
he assessment of the problems related to the stability of orthopaedic implants motivates the research for the mechanical and nanomechanical characterization of structural and regenerated bone. It is presented in this work the research carried out in this area at INTEMA. The mechanical characterization of trabecular bone at the macroscopic level is made via homogenization methods implemented using finite element analysis of trabecular bone models constructed from X-ray microtomography. For the micromechanical characterization there are used depth-sensing indentation tests to study regenerated bone around implants. Obtained results aim towards the development of bone regeneration and bone remodeling theories for the prediction of the bone behavior and the enhancement of the implant performance.
