Resumen:
In this work the influence of mean stress on the fatigue notch sensitivity is analyzed for three low carbon steels. The most important parameters that define the fatigue notch sensitivity are identified and their relation with the stress ratio analyzed. For the analyzed stress ratio range (-1.3 ≤ R ≤ -0.3) it seems that the fatigue notch sensitivity for sharp notches, for which the fatigue limit is defined by a mechanical threshold ΔKth, is more influenced by the stress ratio than the fatigue blunt-notch sensitivity, for which the fatigue limit is given by a microstructural threshold Δσth.
