Resumen:
From the perspective of postwar Latin American structuralism, the global economy was the setting for an antagonism between a central (productively developed) hub and a peripheral (productively underdeveloped) one. This study argues that to analyze the specific form in which this antagonism is reproduced under the historic conditions of the new capitalism, it is necessary to consider the emergence of a chain-shaped structural logic that differentiates activities that create knowledge-from those that reproduce them within each productive sector. This chain-shaped logic does not contest the idea of structure in the sense of the sectoral differentiation of production that characterizes postwar capitalism, but it does impose itself on this as the dominant standard.
