Resumen:
In this work we report the preparation of materials based on silica and alumina in which the inclusion of phosphomolybdic acid, with Keggin type primary structure, as an active phase was performed for its application as heterogeneous catalysts in the selective oxidation of sulfides. In our researcher group, heteropolyacids (HPAs) compounds have been used for a long time as catalysts for various organic synthesis reactions, because of they have a high acid strength and red-ox properties. Previous studies show that including the HPA in an alumina matrix an increase in its catalytic activity occurs (depending on the reaction) due to the interaction HPA-OH of the support, with the primary phase existing in parallel to the lacunar phase of the used HPA, in this case with Keggin type primary structure. On the other hand, by using silica as support, primary structure remains stable, allowing its subsequent reuse. All synthesized materials were characterized by FT-IR and potentiometric titration, and their catalytic capacity was evaluated in the selective oxidation of diphenyl sulfide to diphenyl sulfoxide. Excellent conversion and selectivity results were achieved in ecofriendly reactions conditions
