Resumen:
Studies have demonstrated that lipoteichoic acid (LTA) is involved in the immunomodulatoryproperties of some immunobiotic lactobacilli. The aim of this work was to evaluate whether LTAcontributes to the capacity of Lactobacillus plantarum CRL1506 of modulating the intestinalinnate antiviral immune response. A D-alanyl-lipoteichoic acid biosynthesis protein knockoutCRL1506 strain (ΔdltDCRL1506) was obtained and its ability to modulate TLR3-mediatedimmune response was evaluated in vitro in porcine intestinal epithelial (PIE) cells and, in vivo in6-week-old Balb/c mice. Wild-type CRL1506 (WtCRL1506) was used as positive control. Thechallenge of PIE cells with the TLR3 agonist poly(I:C) significantly increased IFN-β, IL-6 andMCP-1 expressions. PIE cells pretreated with ΔdltDCRL1506 or WtCRL1506 (108 cells during 48h) showed higher levels of IFN-β (p
