Resumen:
Goat milk (GM) is a efficient as cow milk to improve some parameters damaged by malnutrition. Aim: to study the effect of GM and yogurt (GY) administration on phagocytic cells from malnourished mice (MM). Materials and methods: different groups of MM were fed with pasteurized GM and GY for 7 and 14 d. We determined: A) Percentage and score of myeloperoxidase (MP) positive polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN+) from peripheral blood B9 Nitro Blue Tetrazolium (NBT) im peripheral macrophages (PM). Results: a) GM supplementation for 14 d induced a significant increase in the number of PMN+. The effect of GY could be seen since 7 d. The score was low in MM and MM fed with GM for 7 d, whereas when GM was administrated for 14 d and GY for 7 d and 14 d the values were near normal control. B) The NBT test in PM showed activation with GM and GY. The latest reached values higher that normal control. Conclusion: MP activity of PMN and bactericide capacity of PM from MM were increased for all supplement. GY was more efficient, because the effects were earlier and the activation level higher than GM.
