Hemostatic parameters in an undernourish model: Influence of lactic acid bacteria

Resumen:
The acid lactic bacteria (LAB) induces citoquinas production, through which, interrelations inflammation-coagulation can be established. Aim: to know if the LAB exerts some effects on hemostatic parameters in the malnutrition. Materials and methods: Undernourished BALB/c mice (UM), were feed for 7d with: commercial diet (CD) and CD added with Lactobacillus casei (CD+Lc) or goat yogurt (CD+GY). Were determined: % of increase of body weight (BW), while blood cells (WBC) count (n x 109/l), nº of leukocytes neutrophils (LN), Prothrombin Time (PT % of activity), Activated Parcial Thromboplastine Time (APTT in seconds) and fribrinogen concentration (F in mg/dl). Result: YoC addition was more effective to increase: BW (CD=66±6; CD+Lc=50±6; CD+YoC=103±5 %), the nº of WBC (UM= 2,9±0,4; CD=2,9±0,3; CD+YoC=5,7±0,2) and LN. In UM we see a reduction of % of activity in PT, prolonged APTT and F decreased. All these parameters improved after 7 days of feeding with the different diet PT (N=102±9; UM=17,8±7; CD=50±6; CD+Lc=73±10; CD+YoC=68±4); APTT (N=32,1±3,2; UM=58,6±5,4; CD=36,3±4,0; CD+Lc=29,6±5,1; CD+YoC=36,5±4,9). Conclusions. Protein deprivation disturbs the hemostatic parameters. We could not see influence of LAB in the studied period.
