Resumen:
Chemical analysis of natural products usually involves the following sequence: defining purpose of analysis, sample collection, sample preparation for chromatography, analytical chromatography, data processing and results of the chemical analysis. Sampling, or sample collection, is the second operation of this process and consists in the obtaining of representative samples using adequate sampling techniques according with sample nature and the purpose of the chemical analysis. Improper sampling, sample storage or sample handling often lead to experimental pitfalls and drastically reduce the meaning of the analytical results. This chapter provides general techniques applied for collection, handling and storage of soil, air and water samples in natural products research.
