Resumen:
The role of lipoteichoic acid (LTA) in the ability of Lactobacillus plantarum CRL1506 (Lp06)to beneficially modulate the intestinal innate antiviral immune response was evaluated. A D-alanyl-lipoteichoic acid biosynthesis protein knockout Lp06 strain (ΔdltDLp06) was obtainedand its ability to modulate TLR3-mediated immune response was evaluated in vitro and in vivoand compared with wild-type Lp06. For in vitro studies, porcine intestinal epithelial (PIE) cellswere used. The stimulation of PIE cells with poly(I:C) (TLR3 agonist) significantly increasedIFN-β, IL-6 and MCP-1 expressions. PIE cells pretreated with ΔdltDLp06 or Lp06 (10 8 cellsduring 48 h) showed higher levels of IFN-β (p
