El Japón en la vuelta al mundo de Ernesto Quesada

  ResuResumen En esta ocasión se incorpora al proyecto de investigación “La imagen del Japón en autores argentinos e hispanoamericanos” a mi cargo, la larga conferencia sobre una reciente vuelta al mundo que en 1914 pronunciara Ernesto Quesada, uno de los hombres más sobresalientes de la así llamada Generación del 80. Mientras que por el objetivo del periplo podemos hablar de un “viaje iluminista”, el contenido de sus descripciones sobre el Japón lo acercan al “viaje esteticista”, representado por textos posteriores,  como “Viaje al Japón” (1932) del argentino J. M. Rohde. La valoración positiva del país asiático, acuñada  por Eduardo Wilde a fines del siglo XIX persiste en este hombre del 80. Otras cuestiones serán abordadas, como la incorporación de países del Cercano Oriente y la India al derrotero del viajero, el funcionamiento del orientalismo literario en sus descripciones, los diversos estilos del escritor-científico enfrentado a un relato de viajes. Ernesto Quesada- literatura de viaje-imagen del Japón        Abstract Japan and the Orient in Ernesto Quesada’s (1912) Journey Around the World On this occasion the research work in progress incorporates “The image of Japan in Argentine and Hispano American writers”, the long conference on the recent journey around the world Ernesto Quesada gave in 1914, one of the most prominent members of the so called Generation of the 80´s. Whereas from the goal of the trip itself, we could talk about an “illuminist journey”, the content of his descriptions of Japan bring him closer to an “estheticist journey”, represented by several later texts such as “Viaje al Japón” (1932) by the Argentine writer J. M. Rohde. The positive valuation of the Asian country, coined by Eduardo Wilde towards the end of the 19th century, persists in this man from the 80’s. Other issues will be addressed such as the incorporation to the traveler’s journey of countries of the Near East and India, the workings of literary orientalism in his descriptions, and the various styles of the writer-scientist confronted with retelling a journey.        Ernesto Quesada- Travel Writing- Japanese Image
