Welcome to the premier issue of Journal of Biomaterials and Tissue Enginnering, JBT, a new international peer-reviewed inter- and multidisciplinary journal that covers and integrates fundamental and applied research in the fields of biomaterials science and engineering, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. As Cyril Stanley Smith stated sixty years ago: “a new journal should create a new grouping of readers; it should serve as a medium of expression for a new combination of authors; and it should serve as a focus for the integration of types of knowledge the relation of which is newly perceived.” Sharing the same goals, I would like to invite you to submit your manuscripts for review, encouraging scientists from around the world to publish their results in this exciting journal, a new forum to exchange knowledge and ideas in rapidly growing areas of scientific research.
