Resumen:
Nanoporous materials can be used in different aquatic nanotechnology applications. Among them: i) detection of water contaminants; ii) removal of contaminants from water; iii) delivery of nutraceutical, drugs, genes or vaccines to aquaculture organisms; iv) control the growth of unwanted aquatic organisms; v) tagging aquaculture organisms and/or sense their health. In our case, two kind of nanoporous material are studied: nanoporous carbon and nanoporous polymeric hydrogels. Novel synthetic procedures aimed to obtain the materials are described. The materials can be used without further modification or functionalized by incorporation of: bulk conducting polymers, metallic nanoparticles, metal oxide nanoparticles or conducting polymer nanoparticles. The materials are assessed trough the measurement of properties relevant to the aquatic nanotechnology application. Then, the development of technological applications is described. Finally, possible future applications of the materials studies are outlined.
