Resumen:
The effects of chromium, streptomycin and the absence of light were independently tested  on Euglena gracilis   cultures   by means of an EST- microarray approach.  First, 1000 ESTs were generated (2000 sequences, 1000 sequenced from  3´and 5´) and an initial EST functional classification was made, showing a predominancy of unknown sequences. With all the E. gracilis´s ESTs micrroarrays were constructed for the study of the effect of the named stress conditions. A total of 90 differentially expressed  genes were identified under these treatments. We focussed our attention on  22 spots showing the higher expression level in an atempt to find out potentially stress-related genes. Within these spots, 7 seemed to overexpress and only one to underexpress under the three stress conditions assayed, indicating a possible pathway of general stress-answering in Euglena gracilis.
