Resumen:
A series of La promoted Ni/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared varying the molar La/Ni ratio and they were tested in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane at relative low temperatures (300 ? 400°C). The studies carried out with these catalysts demonstrated that the La3+ species interact both with Ni2+ species and alumina. As a consequence, Ni species become more reducible incrementing ethane conversion but the interaction between NiO and alumina gets weakened and consequently the selectivity to ethylene decays. An optimal La/Ni molar ratio of 0.08 was found and it corresponds to the NiLa3-M catalyst, with an ethylene yield of 13.42 %.
