Resumen:
The use of iron based heterogeneous catalysts for remediation of organic pollutants in water by the advanced oxidation Fenton process is highly convenient considering the economic and environmentally friendly reactants involved. Even if active iron-based catalysts have already been prepared, leaching of the active species is generally a drawback difficult to overcome. In this context, this contribution has the aim of testing a catalysts prepared by adsorption of Prussian Blue Particles (PBP) onto porous g-Al2O3 beads. Influence of the PBP preparation method on the catalytic activity and stability of the prepared catalysts tested for Orange G Fenton-type oxidation is addressed. Although Prussian blue colloids and hydrogen peroxide were used as Fenton reagent, to our knowledge the use of PBP supported onto alumina as a heterogeneous catalysts for this purpose has not been reported. The use of a porous supporting media makes the catalysts more suitable for fixed bed operation, improves dispersion of the active phase and prevents agglomeration.
