Resumen:
Process intensification in wet air oxidation is proposed employing adsorptive carbon catalyst in a periodically operated Trickle Bed Reactor. Investigation included important engineering issues such as catalyst screening, assessment of adequate start-up and steady state operating conditions, periodic adsorption-reaction cycling of catalytic fixed-bed and unsteady state reactor modelling. The results obtained highlight both the good performance of active carbon as oxidation catalyst and the improvement that can be achieved regarding the long term performance of the carbon catalyst by process intensification.
