Resumen:
When very fast reactions are performed in TBRs, tailored catalyst with non uniform distribution of the active phase (such as, egg shell) are generally employed to minimize detrimental effect of the slow internal diffusion.Even if the influence of periodic operation of TBRs has been examined while using uniform and egg shell type catalysts, to our knowledge, no work has studied comparatively the fundamental differences that can appear while using each type of active phase distribution.  The present contribution has the purpose of modelling and comparing the reaction rate progress for uniform and egg shell spherical catalyst particlesin an isothermal TBR in which a first order , gas limited reaction , is carried out under liquid ON-OFF flow modulation.
